Beach Bum Barbecue has been launched to bring the joy of true Pit Smoked Barbecue and traditional American cooking to New York City. We strive to provide the finest quality barbecue you have ever had at affordable rates with impeccable service. Barbecue is fun food and will bring a new exciting dimension to your next special occasion.

Chef/Owner/Pitmaster Thaddeus Tubridy’s passion for Barbecue has guided his career as a professional chef. His interest in Barbecue began recreationally on his porch in Rockaway. As his hobby expanded he became a Kansas City Barbecue Society certified judge and judged several local competitions. At the same time he began pursuing cooking professionally and enrolled at New York’s Institute of Culinary Education. Upon graduation he completed his Externship at Tabla before he began work at Flatbush Farm in Park Slope. While at the Farm Thaddeus’s reputation as a Barbecue nut led to his being asked to join the opening team of Hill Country.

And so the life of a professional Pitmaster began. As part of the opening team at Hill Country Thaddeus helped develop the menu and techniques that would lead to The Wall Street Journal declaring Hill Country one of the Top Ten Barbecue Restaurants in the nation just months after opening. Thaddeus left Hill Country to return to the “regular” Restaurant world but quickly found himself drawn back to the Pits. He spent some time working the Pits at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Harlem before finally deciding it was time to bring his style of Barbecue to the world and founding Beach Bum Barbecue.
